I began painting these herbal fairies back in 2000 and they eventually became my 5th (and final?) oracle deck. Their healing magic has touched not only me but the lives of 1000's of soul reading clients I've given readings to using this deck. The herbal fairies also appear in the classes I teach at Susun Weed's Wise Woman School. Susun is my inspiration and Hera in ALL the healing work I do. We are so blessed to have her in our midst.

Soul Readings
I've been working with this magickal deck (my own hand made version) since 2008 when I turned the paintings into an oracle deck and I have given 1000's of soul readings with it so far. I like to end my readings (ncluding past life and ancestral readings) with some healing advice from the herbs. This new, soon-to-be published deck is extra special because all the healing, spiritual information is printed on the back of each card.

I currently live in Temecula, Southern California on the traditional land of the Payómkawichum and in the 1000 Islands, Ontario, Canada on traditional Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee territories with my wee doggie Djinn Djinn and architect husband in an adobe style home and lakeside cottage we built ourselves. My work and life are inspired by my shamanic practice, daily painting, and country living.

The Fairy Herbals are dear to my heart as they were inspired by the nature that surrounds me here in Southern California. I live on five acres in a hand built home (by my hubbie) surrounded by ancient oaks, an elfin forest and tons of wildflowers. It is a peaceful, beautiful place, this desert valley I've called home since the year 2000 and many of the fairies in this deck are accompanied by the wildflowers in this area. When I encountered the faeries here in Southern California on the land where I live the ancient ones shared their magick with me. As I entered that Other World with eyes glittering, I learned that the land can heal and that we can heal the land even if it’s only for the insects who remain after we all become stardust in the process. I remembered... how to dance with the faeries. Can you feel them too?

Why am I releasing this deck now (late April-early May, 2022)? Because Venus, Jupiter, the Moon and Neptune are aligned in the sign of Pisces (a water sign, yes I know and my next deck may just be a Mermaid Tarot). As these planets align again as they did before during the Jupiter, Neptune conjunction of 1856 the Spiritualist movement had just been founded (in 1848) along with the discovery of Neptune and we ask again, “What will the framework of our modern mythology be?” This Jupiter/Neptune conjunction accompanies us on a search for meaning and truth as we search for solace in a traumatic time.

How do you allow faerie energy into your life? For me, it's all about the glitter and the sparkle when I add touches of iridescent watercolor to faerie wings in my paintings, trying to capture that effervescent, ever-changing light, where faerie dust glimmers awakening my third eye chakra. For me the very act of painting transports me to the fey realm where all is timeless and anything can happen.
