Have you had some big realizations this week? (Thank you Mercury Retrograde for helping out with that!)

If you follow this blog and have enjoyed a soul reading with me I know you’re working intuitively AND spiritually, guided by your ancestors, or perhaps your spirit guides, the gods, the universe, whatever you choose to call this force.

Each day our spirit guides come through for us, whether we’re listening or not. They offer us protection, intuitive tips and love. But if we truly trust the messages we are receiving then that protection and love will be that much STRONGER.

How do you build trust in spirit? You listen, you wait, you make time for quiet contemplation and you give yourself the space you need to connect with these messages. Perhaps it’s by finding a quiet piece of dirt, or a special flower, or by sitting with your favorite tree that helps to calm you. Perhaps it’s by taking a nature walk or by making space in your home where you can acknowledge spirit, your guides, the ancestors and the seasons.

I like to gather spring wildflowers. Some become photos for my mom who lives in Calgary and some are for my pet cemetery to remember dear friends, and others commemorate a neighbor who recently passed away. I believe I caught a glimpse of his spirit that night. I saw a tiny, shiny object glittering in the olivey, densely forested chaparral hills on my sunset walk. It was in a magickal spot right across from a 10 minute long coyote conversation I'd recently had. I trusted in that moment; that it WAS him and this brought me peace and joy.

How to Find Your Animal Spirit Based Upon Your Birthday

During the creation of my spirit animal deck, the Elfin Ally Oracle Deck I intuited and researched 72 different animals and birds based on the astrology and elements (earth, air, fire, water) associated with each of them.

To figure out your spirit animal based on your astrology or natal birth chart take a look at your sun sign, it’s house placement and it’s element and then find the associated animal or bird below. You can find the entire list in my deck.

Take a look at your Rising Sign (Ascendant) which is found on the cusp of your first house in your birth chart and represents your outward appearance and how you approach things. It’s kinda like your business card, or the first thing people notice about you. If both your sun sign and rising sign are in the same element that’s significant too.

Take note of the Moon in your birth chart to get a sense of the emotional, nurturing side of your personality or in other words, where you feel most at home. The Moon also represents the mother in your chart. To learn more about your birth chart you can order an Astrology Report here.

Once you’ve figured out your birth chart take note of the house placement of your sun and moon sign and add this to the equation along with their Ruling Planets. Below are both the modern and Hellenistic rulers of the planets and the spirit animals associated with them.

What is Hellenistic Astrology?
Hellenistic astrology is the oldest known tradition of astrology, founded in the hellenistic period in Greece/Mesopotamia. In their time, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto were not yet discovered. Only five planets and two luminaries (i.e. the Sun and the Moon) were used.

What is Your Spirit Animal? A Dream Exploration

Another way to tune into your spirit animal of the moment is to ask for dream guidance or simply to take note of your dreams and the animals and creatures that appear in them. If you dream of an ostrich, take note of the gods and goddesses associated with the ostrich, such as Egyptian Goddess, Ma’at.

If an animal or bird appears to you in person again and again take note of the colors, feelings and associations that come up for you.

You may also want to speak to each of your loved ones to determine how they will appear to you once they passed on to the Otherworld. For example, your mother may let you know that the robin is her favorite bird and that she loves the beautiful blue color of their eggs and that she will come to you and communicate with you through the robin after she passes.

To further develop your spirit animal wisdom you may want to consider a soul reading or past life reading or even an ancestral/spirit guide to delve more deeply into all of this.
