7 Ways To Deal with Psychic Vampires and Energy Suckers

As summer rolls on here in Southern California I continue doing art shows. As always I learn many lessons about life and people along the way.

The other weekend a woman came into my booth and started grilling me in a very intense and judgemental way about my soul readings.

I could feel my energy dropping and I was at a loss - it happened so quickly! And then she said “I believe you are a young soul” and I snapped to attention. This was a direct invasion of my space that I could immediately identify. No one has the right to force their opinions on you without asking permission first.

So I told her, “I did not ask for your opinion” and she suddenly became very nice to me.

I asked around about this woman and found out that she was very wealthy and had a habit of talking artists way down on their prices and then not seeming to appreciate the discount, but instead took it for granted.

What lessons did I learn in this encounter that might be useful for you?

Lesson 1

Feel the energy in the room and in your body. Take note.

Lesson 2

Put up extra protection by saying a prayer or affirmation.

Lesson 3

Do not overly engage with the person as this may encourage them. Pull back your energy.

Lesson 4

Stand your ground when necessary and speak up for yourself if you feel your boundaries are being dis-respected. Remain calm and use your intelligence.

Lesson 5

After the person leaves sage your space or say a prayer/affirmation and then speak with a trusted friend, spiritual advisor or your guides about what happened. Ground and center by being in nature, touching the earth, hugging a tree.

Lesson 6

Commend yourself on a lesson learned and pull an oracle or tarot card for further insight.

Lesson 7

Reassure yourself that you were NOT imagining things. Your space and your body are yours and you deserve to be treated with respect and decency at all times.

How to Benefit from a Soul Reading

Dear Moon Muser,
Just because we're almost out of the Covid Cave (at least in California) it's now more ever that we need self care.

During this current Cancer New Moon Time we are experiencing a Mothering Moon, ruled by Cancer the Crab; the Mother, the Nurturer, and the Father, the Protector as the Moon is seen as male in some cultures. Also, during a New Moon it is the best time of the moonth to set your intentions for the entire month.

Self Care Comes First

I still remember attending an after-wake gathering surrounded by strangers when all I wanted to do was write and process the death of my father and uncle.

You are wiser than you know by Kathy Crabbe

I needed to be alone.
To write poetry.
Channel the dead.
Be quiet.

We need to give ourselves the SPACE we need by setting boundaries with others.

I wish I had been brave enough to announce to all those strangers that I needed to leave and be by myself. But I didn’t. Perhaps I didn’t want to be judged like my father was who many considered to be, ‘weird, alien, off’.

But now I can understand that it was self care I needed in that moment and the only person that could give that to me was myself.

So, BE BRAVE dear soul and ask for what you need to take care of yourself first.

How To Set Boundaries and Protect Yourself

When I began painting today I asked these questions to help me center in my spiritual practice. This is something you can do at the beginning of your day or when you start a new project.

What does the world need right now?
What do I need?

Next, visualize yourself surrounded by your favorite color. What does that color represent for you?

I chose the color apple green which represents new beginnings, juicy green apples and hope.

Feel yourself surrounded by your color. I feel myself enclosed (in a good way) by the color apple green

Beneath the beneath. (Say this phrase to help yourself go beneath the surface of things, beneath the problems, the day to day stresses, etc.)

Here is something you might also need help with.

Setting Boundaries

Today I need to create space for myself in the world that feels safe and to clearly ask others to RESPECT THAT SPACE and to respect the boundaries I have created.

Next I asked my guides, ancestors, the divine(s) to offer me advice and guidance in regards to some issues I’m working on.

I also created protection by saying a prayer. You can also say an affirmation for protection.

The Vision

Bonhomme

I receive a vision of the Bonhomme. He is the official representative of the Québec Winter Carnival.

White as snow, wearing a red tuque and arrow sash of heroes of our past, Bonhomme embodies the joie de vivre of Quebecers.

I feel his presence as cooling and soft.

I say these words:

I am safe.
I am protected.
I am okay.

I ask for help in dealing with my problems.

At this point in the spell you can say aloud (or to yourself) whatever problems/issues you are facing or you can write them down in a journal.

Wait for advice from your guides or ancestors and write down whatever feelings, words, sensations you receive.
