Pick your themes and then write and draw daily.

Stuff I learned from a podcast with artist, Lisa Congdon: Don't just release everything you do, save it up for a show, a book, a bigger project. It may look as though you're doing nothing (online) but that's okay.

Working and being alone as a writer/artist means you can amuse yourself well enough on your own and hopefully get paid for it! (and trust me, not a lot of us are ready for the task!)

1. Paint/draw from emotion
2. Create from and explore an idea you are passionate about
3. Tell a story/narrative
4. Combine all 3

Welcome to my newest offering: Kill the Darlings! (kicking against the pricks) - a comic-surreal about love, floating marshmallows, souls-in-the-machine, knees and healing. More coming soon!

Grimlet was inspired by my recent visit to Los Angeles to take in the Giant Robot Biennale at the Japanese American Museum, the Giotto exhibit at the Getty, an art opening in Chinatown at L2Kontemporary featuring the work of Simone Gad called Facades and Exploding Fu-Dogs plus I purchased some pens and paper at Kinokuniya Bookstore  in Little Tokyo (I like drawing in public - see photo to the right) and last but not least it was a weekend to celebrate twenty years of wedded bliss - yes indeed.
