Algiz (protection) from the Creative Soul Guide Series

When i painted Algiz, a Norse rune symbol appeared in her/his hair and when I looked up it's meaning in Diana L. Paxson's excellent book Taking Up The Runes i found this:

Elhaz (or Algiz) is one of the most generally useful of runes in practical magic. Combined with other runes in a bindrune, it invokes their force for protection...Used alone, it can be drawn on doors and windowsills to protect a house or on the hood of an automobile (I painted one on my luggage!) It is drawn on the forehead when one is going into danger and projected outward to create a circle of protection...Note that the reversed form of the rune is the same as the circled peace symbol.
