October Soul Reading for the Week Ahead

This week for me has been filled with vivid dreams which I do believe many of you are experiencing as well. I've also been investigating healing on an ancestral level.

My questions for you are: How can we feed our souls in times of stress without burning out? How are you coping? What do you need? Please feel free to email me directly if you feel called to do so.

Please also enjoy my Moonday Soul Reading Video and Blog to help you relieve stress and tune into the week ahead with a heart-centered focus. I suggest you watch my video first and then scroll down for the meaning of the cards pulled in my reading.

Sagittarius Goddess ~ Artemis

Artemis, Artemis,
Goddess of the wood
You are bows and arrows, death and birth
Midnight revels and pregnant mirth.
Wild woman, child, hunter of beast,
We find our true self when we dance at your feast.

Artemis is the virgin moon-goddess roaming the forest with her band of nymphs, bearing the bow and quiver, avoiding men and killing any male who looks upon her. She was also known as the many-breasted Artemis of Ephesus, a symbol of fecundity. As the warlike Artemis she is said to have been the special goddess of the Amazons.

Card 5: Abraxia upholds the sky (Lefty Oracle Deck)

Mantra: I expand.

Affirmation: I am guided by my own innate wisdom and in tune with Mother Earth and Father Sky.

Element: Air

If this card appears in a reading anything goes; the possibilities are endless. You have the power to reach for the stars and expand your consciousness into infinity. Your will is strong, your reach is far and your intuition is a guiding force. You are a power to be reckoned with. If you don’t feel this within yourself, then seek out a new friend or an old friend who is expanding in this way and watch their magick unfold. Learn from it; ask questions, analyze, intuit, journal.

In my own life, I find that this card stimulates my strong double Aquarius Moon so I push myself to reach deeper and farther into the mystery, untangle webs and uncover stars. My responsibilities as a shaman and healer are being tested, and I must become stronger because growth is change and I must surrender to the inevitable. The only thing we know for certain is that this too shall change.

Expressive Body Movement Challenge
Stand up (or if you prefer, stay seated) with your arms stretched up high and your feet firmly planted on the ground. Lift your arms as if you’re trying to touch the stars in the night sky (like Goddess Nut), bearing the weight of all this beauty and yourself. Feel your body as a conduit connecting earth and sky. You are a Divine channel allowing the heavens to touch the Earth. Be with this. Feel this. Stretch, stretch, stretch and imagine.

Card 6: Horse (Elfin Ally Oracle Deck)

Horse by Kathy Crabbe

Keyword: Graceful
Meaning: With great pride and joy you charge forward trusting you are on the right path.
Reversed: You are at a crossroads, stuck and uncertain.

Affirmation: I am loyal and free.
Astrology: Jupiter, Sagittarius, Sun
Element: Fire

Medicine: Your gentle, spirited eyes kiss and heal the freedom lover within.

Lore: She called to her wildness and freedom unchained, at home with the wind, her beauty un-reined.

I hear you call my name each night before I go to sleep. Your gentle whinny in my ear tells me I am safe and sleep is guaranteed.

Card 3: Behold (Lefty Oracle Deck)

Mantra: I delight.
Affirmation: Dare I eat the fruit of my delight?
Element: Spirit

If this card appears in a reading it’s time to plunge into the dark and pull out hope. Whatever stressful conundrum you’re currently in, know that you HAVE the resources and inner strength and power to find a solution and gain clarity. You CAN pull it off. It may require some dirty work, so buckle down and get your hands dirty. There is a decent prize at the end of it all and it’s definitely worth fighting for. If you’re hesitant or un-sure of what to do next then think like a cat, independently. Think for yourself; trust yourself. Call upon your intuition and the Divine or your higher power. You CAN do this; it’s just a matter of time before all will be sorted out and you can once again move forward.

In my own life I sometimes need to get my ‘monkey-mind’ (when my mind is all over the place) out of the mix and be more fully in the moment, trusting that I am being guided and that I can indeed hear and trust my intuition. Like a muscle, the more I work it, the stronger it becomes.

Card 3: Grey Squirrel (Elfin Ally Oracle Deck)

Grey Squirrel by Kathy Crabbe

Keyword: Inventive
Meaning: Your curious mind comes up with a brilliant solution.
Reversed: If only you could figure things out but you’re over thinking it.

Affirmation: I am speedy.
Astrology: Mercury
Element: Air, Earth

Medicine: In the spirit of fun and frolic, you keep us on our toes and ready for action.

Lore: Squirrel was her wee champion, full of advice all day long, and nuts, and smiles, and songs that kept her spiky thoughts at bay, so that finally, she too could sleep and dream of a better day.

Quick and sure, fast and alert, you keep me on my toes and in the groove – ready for action – my furry friend!

Beebalm by Kathy Crabbe

Card 5: Beebalm (Cat Herbal Healing Deck - coming in 2021)

Beebalm or ‘Balm’ is often worn and mixed into baths to attract love and success.

Libra New Moon: Saying Goodbye to Social Media

It's Autumn and things are slowing down in Nature as am I. I let go of social media this month after a visit home to Ontario, Canada where I let the deep lake water wash over me as I floated, floated, floated. Watched the beavers and the otter play, and the blue heron and loon swim and fly and utter their gorgeous (the loon) and weird (heron) songs.

During my time away I realized that whenever I shared anything on my phone or on the internet it felt like WORK, a huge amount of work. Posting/sharing/chatting/responding to everything and everyone on Facebook Instagram, texts, emails. So I shut it all down. I stopped looking at it (except when sales came thru, of course). I honestly felt like a hollow shell; I had nothing left to give.

So now, I give you this, just this: my museletter and this blog. That's all. It will be enough. I feel myself going back in time to BEFORE; before the internet was on my phone and the incessant, undending chatter took precedence. I have myself back.

I want our time together to be magic, a respite. So mote it be.

In that spirit I share with you my latest painting from the Faerieality Series. May she delight you in sparkly, unseen, magickal, trixsy ways. That is all. Just enjoy.

If you feel like she must be yours there is a link below.

"Birch Fairy", 6x6 inches, acrylic gouache and collage on paper mounted to board.

"Like many fairies, the birch fairy can open the portals to the subtle realms. The birch is associated with cleansing and freshness, and the goddess Arianrhod is invoked using birch, to attract fertility and aid creativity." (The Fairy Bible by Teresa Moorey)

Libra New Moon 2016

I'm always hesitant to get too personal online although I know it's the trend as it does suck folks in in a sort of soap opera way but that is just not me! I fear navel gazing and boring you with the intricacies of my own personal life and heck, it's MY personal life...nuff said.

I will share what the essence of Libra means for me though. It means the ability to adapt to any situation with grace and charm. It means having a sleeping bag and tent always at the ready in the trunk of the car in case of a good camping opportunity. It means making a party wherever you are instead of whining. So, in that spirit I introduce you to this month's New Moon oracle card from my upcoming Lefty Oracle Deck plus her/his accompanying affirmation and story-poem that will also appear in the guidebook for the deck.

To Dither or not to dither, that is the question

‘To dither or not to dither,
that is the question.’
Or is it?

Perhaps it’s the answer?
Caught in the space in between -
the space where poetry grows
and fairies go -
is where this question lies.

Perhaps it’s a question
only my higher power can divine?
Perhaps it’s not meant to be answered?

Perhaps I shall just sit
and twiddle my thumbs
and dance my dance and call it a night.

Perhaps in doing so
I am fulfilling my destiny after all.

Affirmation: I am fully present in the moment trusting fully that the way forward will become clear in the perfect time and perfect way.

To Dither is available as a print in my Shop.
