Wild Lotus Gallery in Temecula, California now offering the Art of Kathy Crabbe

I am very pleased to announce that Wild Lotus, a lovely new art gallery and  gift shop in Temecula, California is now carrying my LuLu cards and prints.  This shop is owned and operated by Anju and her family who are originally from Nepal.  They stock crafts and culture from their homeland such as Buddhist statues, mandala paintings, clothing, crystals and the work of local artists from Temecula and area.  They are very kind and helpful and I hope you stop on by and support the local community and especially the work of local artists.

Saying goodbye to my babies (silk paintings that is!)

I'm letting my babies go! Mystic Arts Gallery in Laguna Beach will be exhibiting 13 of my LuLu in Laguna original silks this summer. These are my TOP TOP favorites; paintings I've held onto since the '90's when I first painted them in Laguna Beach. I've managed to sell 1,000's of prints from them - thank you all! I also am not able to get my favorite picture frames anymore  which I lovingly handpaint to match the originals. My silk paintings are no longer babies anymore - they are teens (!) but they are finally leaving the nest and I am sad (and happy); perhaps bittersweet is the word? I am a self taught intuitive artist currently living and working in the desert valley of Southern California surrounded by ancient oaks and an elfin forest. I live in a home created by my husband that we share with our cat and dog, Abby and Spartacus. Gnomes, aliens and fairies have also been spotted here. I’ve been drawing since age two and giving intuitive soul readings since 2008.  

My Mermaids are Published in Fairies & Angels Magazine

Fairies and Angels Magazine has just published some of my Mermaid paintings so I'd like to tell you a bit more about them. The Mermaid Series was originally painted on pure white silk. I was inspired by living in Laguna Beach, California for 8 years where I befriended a red-haired mermaid and a raven-haired mermaid. Painting on silk was a natural fit for this series because of the watery, delicious, flowing feel achieved by using silk dyes and gutta resist on silk.

March's Cat

Happy March! The black cat painting above is called March's Cat and was inspired by a wild kitty who adopted me on the last night of a two month long art festival in Laguna Beach. One of my fellow exhibitors was carrying him in her arms after capturing him in a trap on the Sawdust Art Festival grounds. Luis aka 'Pin' grew up to be a shy, slightly clumsy, but still wild black cat that we lost eventually to the coyotes, but I think that's how he would have wanted it.

Valentine's are for Cats and Dogs!

Would it surprise you to know that  the results of a survey asking women what makes them extremely happy listed "Pets" at the top with 42%, sex was listed second at 27%, then food, shopping and the economy.  I would have to agree! How 'bout you? (This survey is from Women Want More by John Jantsch). I know that my own 4 legged friends have brought tons of love into my life so that I can't imagine living without them.  Right now I have a cat and a dog, Abby and Spartacus, both black and white. Pets have always been a major inspiration for my work especially for the LuLu in Laguna Series which I painted on silk using silk dyes and gutta resist. What incredible luminosity and vibrancy silk gives to the work which I believe is unmatched by any other medium I've discovered.
