In my own life, dreams have always guided me although it’s far from easy to pay attention to them. Often my body knows the truth when my mind does not, so I listen on as many levels as I can because truth can often be subtle.

Cybele Mountain Mother,

Cybele or “Mountain Mother” is an Earth Goddess originally worshipped in Turkey.  She appears as a full-breasted and mature woman carrying corn and keys and wearing a crown and robe the color of all the flowers of the earth over which she ruled.

Lefty Oracle Card: Now the Real Work Begins

Mantra: I am gifted.
Affirmation: I am a conduit for the divine.

When this card appears in a reading it means business. What IS your ‘real work’; the work that matters to you on a soul-deep level? The work you MUST do before you die. Define that first. Then ask yourself, “Am I doing my ‘real work’ consistently or is it even on my radar?” If your ‘real work’ is still a mystery to you, it’s time to awaken to your soul’s calling and uncover your true gifts. You can start by looking back at your childhood and pin-pointing your favorite parts. Next, look at your current favorite activities or times when you’ve been so absorbed you lost track of time. If nothing comes to you, ask a friend to point out your strengths or take the StrengthsFinder test (from the book StrengthsFinder by Tom Rath).

In my own life I purchased the StrengthsFinder book, took the test and identified my top five strengths which helped me focus on my strengths rather than my weaknesses so that I could truly shine.

Creative Journal Prompt
Where are you at with your ‘real work’? Have you started it yet? Or are you still figuring things out or perhaps you are at a complete standstill?  Wherever you are on your journey is exactly where you need to be. Take a moment now to contemplate this then write down whatever you come up with. If you’re stuck try double doodling which is a technique that involves using both hands to draw freely at the same time. This stimulates both sides of the brain in an empowering and grounding way.

Expressive Body Movement Challenge
To help shift your cells/body/mind just a smidge and to gain new perspective try imitating the pose of the Lefty in this card until you feel yourself shifting gears internally. Then hold out a bit longer, rest and go back to your journal exercise and write some more without thinking…just write.

Card 1: Scorpio Goddess - Brigid (Zodiac Goddess Power Deck)

Scorpio Goddess ~ Brigid

Brigid’s reign as sacred muse

Brigid is one of the few early goddesses to survive intact through the Christian era. Brigid means ‘bright one’ as symbolized by fire. She is worshiped as a Triple Goddess by the Celtic Irish, called Brigantia in England, Bride in Scotland and Brigandu in Celtic France. In her ancient form as carrier of the cauldron she was ruler of smithcraft, poetry, inspiration, healing and medicine. The Christian Saint Bridget is often invoked as both muse and healer in continuation of her ancient rites and her rituals were preserved for more than 1000 years after she ceased to be called a goddess. Today little is left of the ancient Celtic legends describing her.

If this card appears in a reading you are heading into the unknown and that can be scary, but at least you will be prepared. It may be a journey within to the hidden depths of your soul or it may take place in the mundane realms. It may be a time of deep emotion, facing fears, overcoming a challenge, seeking truth, legal issues, or worries and stress but you will come through it transformed and stronger than ever.

In my own life this card was inspired by a phone call from my best friend whose car had been stolen. She was okay, but shaken and very angry. It brought out her dark side which I witnessed and then I painted it. The energy was intense and I needed to find a way to help her and myself release the energy in a beneficial way that helped both of us move on in the process.

Circe or ‘witch’ was a fate spinner and a weaver of the destinies of men.  She was called ‘The Goddess who commanded all the lights of heaven’ by Pliny an ancient philosopher. Circe lived as a witch and a weaver in a little stone cottage by the sea where she concocted magical herbal potions to ensnare sailors shipwrecked near her shores, turning the nastiest ones into swine.

Lefty Oracle: Margo Recaptures Her Innocence

Affirmation: I am beautiful and free and I reclaim ME.

If this card appears in a reading it’s time to look back at the fun parts of your childhood. What memories spark good feelings? Are you able to tap into those feelings in any of your current activities? In other words how do you feed your child self that still wants attention? She or he is a part of your psyche that may need some extra care and attention right now so give yourself some precious time to do just that. Break out the crayons, the bike, the ball, the clarinet, the glitter wand and make some magick happen. Do something that touches your inner child-self and makes her/him feel happy and loved. Like the butterfly wings in this card’s imagery it’s time to fly, transform and awaken yourself perhaps by leaving things behind, or by remembering and loving the old you or by stowing away all parts of you that are no longer needed.

In my own life whenever I sit down to draw or paint I feel as though I’m feeding my inner child and bringing love and joy into my life so I try to do that every day because I usually feel better afterwards (and during!)

Creative Journal Prompt
When you look back at your childhood, what pops out for you as a favorite memory, or two, or three? Why are they your favorite memories? Are you still in touch with that side of yourself and the people or places in those memories? If not, why not? Take one small step today or this week to re-connect with those people or places and write down a plan for this in your journal.
