If this card appears in a reading it’s time to plunge into the dark and pull out hope. Whatever stressful conundrum you’re currently in, know that you HAVE the resources and inner strength and power to find a solution and gain clarity. You CAN pull it off. It may require some dirty work, so buckle down and get your hands dirty. There is a decent prize at the end of it all and it’s definitely worth fighting for. If you’re hesitant or un-sure of what to do next then think like a cat, independently. Think for yourself; trust yourself. Call upon your intuition and the Divine or your higher power. You CAN do this; it’s just a matter of time before all will be sorted out and you can once again move forward.

In my own life I sometimes need to get my ‘monkey-mind’ (when my mind is all over the place) out of the mix and be more fully in the moment, trusting that I am being guided and that I can indeed hear and trust my intuition. Like a muscle, the more I work it, the stronger it becomes.

If this card appears in a reading there may be fighting going on around you or within you. This card will help you get a deeper and higher perspective on the fighting so that you can avoid getting swept away by emotion. Healthy anger can propel one forward. Unhealthy anger festers and feeds on itself in a never ending loop, growing bigger in the process. Take a time out to figure out what the fighting is really about. Are there hidden agendas, buried prejudices, out and out aggression, hatred, petty rivalry or selfish mean-ness involved? What is the lesson here? Take the fight to another level to save your sanity and yourself, and to be a model of this behavior for others who may need this lesson more than you.

In my own life, with Aries Rising in my astrological chart, I often rise to a fight or even start one just for fun and often to shift stagnant energy and shake things up, but I lose steam if the other person gets too into it. This card and it’s snake imagery symbolizing wisdom, depth and healing reminds me to take the high road as symbolized by the giant golden angel wings and helps to bring empathy, compassion and a pause for breath to the situation so that hateful words almost spewed are never spoken, because some things cannot be taken back once released.

Chickweed is an herb ruled by the Moon and has powers of both love and fidelity. It was often used in love spells to maintain a relationship and to attract love.

Circe or ‘witch’ was a fate spinner and a weaver of the destinies of men.  She was called ‘The Goddess who commanded all the lights of heaven’ by Pliny an ancient philosopher. Circe lived as a witch and a weaver in a little stone cottage by the sea where she concocted magical herbal potions to ensnare sailors shipwrecked near her shores, turning the nastiest ones into swine.

If this card appears in a reading it’s time to look back at the fun parts of your childhood. What memories spark good feelings? Are you able to tap into those feelings in any of your current activities? In other words how do you feed your child self that still wants attention? She or he is a part of your psyche that may need some extra care and attention right now so give yourself some precious time to do just that. Break out the crayons, the bike, the ball, the clarinet, the glitter wand and make some magick happen. Do something that touches your inner child-self and makes her/him feel happy and loved. Like the butterfly wings in this card’s imagery it’s time to fly, transform and awaken yourself perhaps by leaving things behind, or by remembering and loving the old you or by stowing away all parts of you that are no longer needed.

In my own life whenever I sit down to draw or paint I feel as though I’m feeding my inner child and bringing love and joy into my life so I try to do that every day because I usually feel better afterwards (and during!)

Creative Journal Prompt
When you look back at your childhood, what pops out for you as a favorite memory, or two, or three? Why are they your favorite memories? Are you still in touch with that side of yourself and the people or places in those memories? If not, why not? Take one small step today or this week to re-connect with those people or places and write down a plan for this in your journal.

I believe my newest animal spirit guide, the Ostrich is helping me because in a recent dream the Ostrich in all her fluttery, winged gorgeousness approached me and licked my arm.

In mythology the Egyptian Goddess Maat, goddess of truth, took the form of an ostrich feather to be weighed on a scale along with the heart of the deceased as they entered the underworld. If the heart weighed more than an ostrich feather the deceased was sent to 'the bad place'.
